November 2013: My Planned Activities and Challenges....

Mistborn: The Final Empire - Brandon Sanderson Royal Airs (An Elemental Blessings Novel) - Sharon Shinn

If anyone cares to join me, here are some November events I plan on doing (although current version of booklikes groups are basically just chat rooms):

My first BOTM discussion on booklikes for Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson.  Discussion at Science Fiction and Fantasy Group.

My first buddy read on booklikes for Royal Airs by Sharon Shinn.

Main discussion at SOS Group (SOS = Serious Overload of series, a sister group of the goodreads one).  Additional posts with spoilers and such (or if unhappy with current chat room features) just need to be tagged "SOS Buddy Reads Royal Airs" -- If you are a twitter-er, I also experimented with setting up a "ReadUps" at http://rdup.me/hne163fwbdfgvi via @readups #buddyreadofroyalairsbysharonshin but my first impressions of ReadUps is that it's basically chatroom-y as well.

Clean out your eReader Challenge.  Doing a version here on booklikes and may or may not remember to participate in the initiating blog one.  I plan on reading at least three free/sale books in November (or at least try hard).

Click to signup and see rules.

Judgment Day Challenge.  A simple challenge to cleanout a lot of those free samples downloaded over time.  Click here for details.  You only need to read enough of a sample to make a judgment call (do not have to complete the read).  Participate by either or both:

(1) setting a number of samples you plantto judge during the month playing

(2) judging at least one sample in between starting your other reads.

My first speed version of Bookshelf BINGO while waiting for 2014's full version Round 9.  The speed version is being done between full rounds because of holiday interruptions and a need to cheer up some goodreads members.  Unlike full version -- you do have deadlines.

Signup and RSVP to the event by October 30. Sunday (Sydney, Australia, timezone) first shelf will be announced.  Could prove unusually interesting due to goodreads' odd shelf activities; some books the challenge will be to find out how shelved.  Feel free to lurk and get an idea if you'd like to play full version.

SAVE THE DATES:
Wed, 30 Oct ~ Sign-up Cut-off Date
Thur, 31 Oct ~ RSVP Deadline
Sun, 3 Nov ~ First TWO Shelf Announcements |Round 8 Begins (possibly Sydney timezone)

And I'll be continuing with Teaser Tuesday posts.

Teaser Tuesdays is a weekly bookish meme, hosted by MizB of Should Be Reading. Anyone can play along! Just do the following:

• Grab your current read
• Open to a random page
• Share two (2) “teaser” sentences from somewhere on that page
• BE CAREFUL NOT TO INCLUDE SPOILERS! (make sure that what you share doesn’t give too much away! You don’t want to ruin the book for others!)
• Share the title & author, too, so that other TT participants can add the book to their TBR Lists if they like your teasers!

And click for details on these I'm trying:  Waiting On Wednesdays ,  Top Ten Tuesday , That's What He Said Thursdays , The Friday 56 , Book Beginnings Friday and Simply Sunday .
