A note if importing books to LibraryThing ...

If importing books to LibraryThing, make sure you also add to collection "Your Library" or the books won't show up under "Your books."

(Background:  I'm importing my goodreads and Leafmark backup files.  I started by importing a piece of my goodreads backup to collection "goodreads import" and while it worked, none of the books showed in my library ["Your books"].  Did again importing to both "Your Library" and "goodreads import" collections and they showed up.)

I'm at http://www.librarything.com/profile/Spurts if anyone is interested.

Recently released iPad/iPhone app comes with a free lifetime membership (no book limit) for installing the app so giving it another swing at least as a backup for my book/shelf data.

As per usual when importing to a new site -- bookcovers missing in bulk.

I tried and dismissed LibraryThing years ago plus disliked their partial amazon ownership.   Several former and current goodreads friends are there, so we'll see.  I'm not even sure if I'll echo any reviews there unless possibly Leafmarks' export file reviews import seamlessly where I'd reimport occasionally--I'm not very trusting of any site with even minor amazon ownership where I doubt I want more reviews there than might import from my 2012 goodreads backup.

Their forums/bookclubs are older and may be more developed than Leafmarks or Booklikes (something I really wish one or the other would upgrade) -- but past first impressions say not very welcoming and rather full of themselves.

So far as I know, booklikes has no backup or export for your books/shelves/reviews.  Moot point for me anyway because the shelves haven't worked for me (like most menus) since book database was introduced.  I'm reviewing and socializing here, shelving and echoing reviews at Leafmarks and looking for upgrades or new sites for the bookclubs that are dwindling for me on goodreads.
