Fair warning -- this review is going to suck.  This was just one of those books you sit down to start then *whoosh* what the hell time is it?  And yet is very hard to review because you just don't have the right words to convey how very much you enjoyed the read.  And even harder to review without outright spoilers.

I am a fan of this series and of the author (a bit less so her previous books because went a bit too much into crime drama/mystery or soccer mom territory for my tastes).

Not one complaint about this book is currently coming to mind other than opening being a bit surprising.  Because it opens with Charles going to see his very best friend of all time.  A friend reader is only finding out about three books into the series but that Charles has known for almost a century  (and outside of his immediate family, wife Anna and foster sister Mercy Thompson apparently his only friend at that).

Then it was just nonstop stuff happening (where I would spoiler tag paragraph after paragraph to detail), action and personal stuff happening/developing.  Including a re-emergence of fae activities/politics and the issue of what stand the Marok and the werewolves would take if fae and humans came to outright war.  Neutrality? With the humans? With the fae?

This was a complete story, no cliffhangers and not that dependent on previous books other than readers skipping are not likely to "know" the main characters well enough.  But clearly there is more to follow with the fae and other elements of the characters and the storyline.

Told you this would not be a good review; I really loved the book but I really don't know what to say.
