Just an avid reader. Mostly SF/Fantasy, some hobbies, paranormal, urban fantasy and lighter, fluffier things.
I keep trying to preorder this already preordered book.
It's a new trilogy with crossover characters from their Hidden Legacy series.
I've loved the books but not the covers which seem pretty bland and for a different genre of books.

More Valdemar, more Mags ... the only reason I waited so long to start was the hold at the library was so very long. At any rate, back into Valdemar with #43 of the series, #1 of a new spinoff series Valdemar Family Spies.
"Prince Trey had been Chosen, but in a startlingly rare occurrence, his Companion was little more than a foal."
"It would be nice to be a cat, he thought. Everything is so simple for them. Food or not-food. Thing to play with or thing to ignore. Favored human or not-favored human. Now, in particular, this cat’s world was perfect. She had just been fed, the sun was exactly the right warmth, on exactly the right place. The cushion was perfectly soft. No one was disturbing her. She was one unit of contentment, from her whiskers to her tail."
Okay, this will pull any Valdemar fan out of a reading slump (although Mags books should be read before this set).
"And the puppies—were puppies. Who wouldn’t be happy with a head full of puppies?"
As usual, I'm enjoying the heck out of Half-Moon Hollow. Could use more Ophelia, though.
"“Their investigation was unsubstantiated and inconclusive,” Ophelia spat.
“You should have that tattooed on your forehead to save time,” Jane told her."
"“Yeah, probably, but I’d rather go out for helping a friend than, say, playing ‘Candy Crush’ on my workstation, which is probably how I’ll be fired.”"
Shamefully, I seem to have missed some publications in the Half Moon Hollow books. Fixing that and starting this one.
"Usually I was of the opinion that kale was God’s way of making CrossFitters suffer karmic payback for all those humblebrag selfies."
"He had managed to escape from his cell using a stolen ID badge, a tiny bit of plastic explosive tucked inside his shoe, and a spork. We weren’t sure how the spork came into play"
"It’s important to document your childe’s milestones. But make sure you know the difference between “memorabilia” and “evidence.”"
"If I’d known I’d never taste chocolate again, I would have maybe lived my last few human hours differently. Like at a Dairy Queen."
"I cannot believe I died in a tragic Ultimate Frisbee accident. Who dies as an Ultimate Frisbee bystander?"
"Something about him made me feel like he saw me, not body parts that happened to have a personality attached or a chance to brag to his friends. But me, as a person. And for a female undergrad at a state college, that was a pretty rare thing."

Hmmm...for me I think that's more "essential authors" or "essential to the genre" type of list.
I'll have to think about it (I'm traveling with "adventures in internet connection").
"Essential authors" formed my reading tastes, but I also grew up with the public library card catalog where I would wolf through all the cards for an author I enjoyed.
I'm curious to see how much I deviate from that first 30/31 day post a lot of us goodreads refugees used to introduce ourselves and find each other when I think about what I consider "essential."
